Project Manager & Account Executive - Intern

Summary

dataengine is looking for a motivated Project Manager & Account Executive Intern to support the delivery of data and AI consultancy projects while assisting with client engagement activities. This is a learning-focused role designed for someone early in their career who is eager to build practical experience in project coordination, client communication, and consulting delivery.

You will work closely with our CEO, Project Manager, Client Growth & Delivery Manager, and technical leads to support project execution, maintain strong client relationships, and help ensure projects are delivered smoothly and professionally. This role offers exposure to real-world data and AI consulting engagements and the opportunity to grow into a project or account management career.

 

Key Responsibilities

Account Management

Client Communication Support: Assist senior team members with day-to-day client communications, meeting preparation, and follow-ups.

Relationship Building: Help maintain positive, professional relationships with clients by ensuring timely responses and clear communication.

Client Insights & Documentation: Capture client needs, feedback, and action items, ensuring they are clearly documented and shared with internal teams.

Account Coordination: Support account activities such as renewals, engagement tracking, and identifying opportunities to add value under guidance from senior team members.

Meeting & Reporting Support: Prepare meeting agendas, notes, and simple client-facing updates or reports.

 

Project Assistance

Project Coordination: Support project managers with planning activities including schedules, task tracking, and documentation.

Delivery Support: Assist with day-to-day project tasks to help ensure deliverables are completed on time and meet expectations.

Risk & Issue Tracking: Help identify and log project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating to project leads when required.

Quality Checks: Assist in reviewing project outputs to ensure completeness and alignment with agreed requirements.

Status Updates: Help prepare internal and client status updates, including progress, milestones, and next steps.

 

Team Collaboration & Learning

Internal Coordination: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and consultants to understand project requirements and delivery workflows.

Workshops & Discovery Support: Assist in client workshops or discovery sessions by taking notes, preparing materials, and documenting outcomes.

Process Improvement: Contribute ideas to improve project coordination, documentation, and client engagement processes.

Continuous Learning: Actively learn about data, analytics, and AI concepts through hands-on project exposure and mentoring.

 

Key Requirements

• Recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

• Interest in project management, account management, or consulting, ideally within a data or technology environment.

• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging with both internal teams and clients.

• Basic understanding of data, analytics, or technology concepts.

• Familiarity with collaboration or project tools (e.g. ProjectWorks, JIRA, Trello, Asana, Notion, Excel) is an advantage.

• Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn with a strong sense of ownership.

• Growth mindset, positive attitude, and curiosity about solving client problems.

• Must be based in Auckland, with flexibility to attend occasional client meetings onsite.
